Switch between the recording and the transcribed MIDI without losing your place. This is the fastest way to tell whether a draft is worth editing.

Fix what is wrong
Adjust sensitivity, note length and pitch range, drop short blips, merge doubled onsets and quantize as lightly as you like. Reset restores the raw transcription.

What producers convert, and what to expect
Guitar
Single-note riffs and arpeggios convert well. Strummed chords, palm mutes and heavy distortion read as extra notes.
Record clean DI, not a mic on an amp.
Voice and humming
Steady notes with clear changes work. Slides, breathiness and vibrato produce short scattered notes.
Minimum note length ≈ 150 ms.
Loops and samples
Get the notes of a loop you like the shape of, then rebuild it with your own sounds instead of using the recording.

Formats it reads
- MP3
- What most people have on hand, so it is the format this tool is tuned for. Compression costs you a little: very quiet notes and fast passages survive better in a lossless file.
- WAV
- The best input. An uncompressed bounce straight out of your DAW, one instrument, no master-bus compression or reverb, gives the cleanest note onsets to work with.
- FLAC, M4A, AAC, OGG
- All accepted, decoded by your browser before conversion. If a file will not decode, the browser lacks that codec — re-export it as WAV and it will work.
- Output: a standard .mid
- Note pitch, start, length and velocity on one track, with the tempo written into the header. It opens in any DAW, notation app or hardware sequencer.
Your unreleased material stays yours
- Converted on your machine
- The model is about 1 MB and runs in the page. Your file is read from disk and processed locally — there is no upload step and no server queue.
- No file names in analytics
- Usage events record that a conversion started, finished or failed, and roughly how long it took. They never record what you converted.
- Nothing to delete later
- Because your audio never arrives here, there is no copy to ask us to remove. Closing the tab is the whole cleanup.
